Rosie Jones Foundation shines a spotlight on S.I.S Martin and BAPAA’s Sleeping Beauty

We are delighted to share that the Rosie Jones Foundation has featured S.I.S Martin and Bedazzle BAPAA’s upcoming reimagining of Sleeping Beauty in its Community Spotlight.

Written by and starring S.I.S Martin, an autistic actress with cerebral palsy, this new version of Sleeping Beauty reimagines the traditional fairy tale through the lived experience of disability. Instead of a witch’s curse, the princess is affected by an unknown illness, later revealed as ME/CFS.

The production explores the challenges of living with debilitating exhaustion, the difficulty of getting a diagnosis, and the need for better understanding and support. Through original songs, puppets, handmade costumes and larger-than-life characters, the show brings an important story to life in a creative and accessible way.

S.I.S Martin created the show to help audiences better understand the reality of disabled lived experience, while also celebrating the imagination, talent and voice of disabled and neurodivergent artists.

The production will be performed at Bridge End Gardens, Saffron Walden, with performances on Thursday 9 July and Friday 10 July at 2pm and 6pm.

A huge thank you to the Rosie Jones Foundation for shining a light on this work and helping to share S.I.S Martin’s story.
